| The downloads are basically files about general or scientific news that I found interesting but tedious to read on an electronic gadget: computer or, worse, a phone. I then prepare a file that I can easily read on the Kindle, in PDF format but in large print. I call this “My little E-book factory“ There is also a list of scientific papers, mostly about climate, history, language… In most cases, there are several versions of the same subject: first one or two “popular” versions as published mainly in ScienceDaily or other sources, followed by the original publication in a scientific journal. Subjects range from a mathematical definition of eggs to the amazing origin of the metal ingots in the Uluburun shipwreck to the origin of cats, climate and whitchcraft. I call this the “Curious scientist’s collection of papers“. They are always in PDF format but in the original size, i.e. the size of the website they come from. | Les téléchargements sont essentiellement des dossiers sur l’actualité générale ou scientifique que je trouvais intéressants mais fastidieux à lire sur un gadget électronique : ordinateur ou, pire, téléphone. Je prépare alors un fichier que je peux lire facilement sur le Kindle, au format PDF mais en grand caratères. J’ appelle ça “Ma petite usine à E-books” Il y a aussi une liste de publications scientifiques relatives à divers domaines, essentiellement le climat, l’ histoire, les langues… Dans la plupart des cas, il y a plusieurs versions du même sujet: d’ abord une ou deux versions “populaires” telles que parues essentiellement dans ScienceDaily ou d’ autres sources, suivi par la publication originale parue dans une revue scientifique. Les sujets abordés vont de la définition mathématique d’ un œuf à l’origine étonnante des lingots de métal trouvés dans l’épave d’Uluburun, en passant par l’origine des chats, le climat et la sorcellerie. J’ appelle ça ma “Collection d’ articles du petit scientifque curieux“. Elles sont toujours au format PDF mais en taille originale, c.à.d. la taille du site web dont elles proviennent. |
