Eifel

My “Eifel- project” covers the first informal release of the results of a demographic, geographic and statistical study on weddings in and around the Länder of North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland, but extending well beyond. It covers about 60000 weddings between 1800 and 1935 in just over 30 localities. The underlying data were obtained from the website of KJ Tonner. My purpose is to attract comments from people knowlegeable about the history and socio-economics of the region, who will eventually join me as co-authors in a formal publication.

This is very much “work in progress”: posts are created, regularly updated and sometimes deeply modified in parallel with the ongoing analyses.

Mein “Eifel-Projekt” umfasst die erste informelle Veröffentlichung der Ergebnisse einer demographischen, geographischen und statistischen Studie über Ehen in und um die Bundesländer Nordrhein-Westfalen, Rheinland-Pfalz und Saarland, aber auch weit darüber hinaus. Sie umfasst etwa 60000 Trauungen zwischen 1800 und 1935 in etwas mehr als 30 Ortschaften. Die Daten wurden von der Website von KJ Tonner bezogen. Mein Ziel ist es, Kommentare von Personen einzuholen, die mit der Geschichte und der Sozioökonomie der Region vertraut sind und die sich eventuell als Co-Autoren an einer Veröffentliching in einer Fachzeitschrift beteiligen würden.

Es handelt sich hierbei um ein “work in progress”: Die Beiträge werden parallel zu den laufenden Analysen erstellt, regelmäßig aktualisiert und manchmal stark verändert.

Mon “projet Eifel” comprend la première publication informelle des résultats d’une étude démographique, géographique et statistique sur les mariages dans et autour des Länder de Rhénanie du Nord-Westphalie, Rhénanie-Palatinat et Sarre, mais aussi bien au-delà. Elle porte sur environ 60000 mariages célébrés entre 1800 et 1935 dans un peu plus de 30 localités. Les données proviennent du site de KJ Tonner. paroisses. Mon objectif est de recueillir les commentaires de personnes connaissant bien l’histoire et la socio-économie de la région et qui pourraient éventuellement participer en tant que co-auteurs à une publication dans une revue spécialisée.
